Zebrina: Greenhouse Plants

W – warm, minimum of 13°C (55°F)

Family: Commelinaceae

Mexico and Southern USA

Zebrina pendula, the Zebra Plant from Mexico, so called because it is attractively striped with silver, is very commonly grown and can be treated exactly as for Tradescantia. It has the same tendency to be straggly but does make a good hanging basket plant. Cuttings will root well in water and a succession of fresh plants is a good idea. Do not be afraid to pot several cuttings in the same container to give a compact appearance.
