Tecomaria : Greenhouse Plants

C – cool, minimum of 7°C (45°F) / W – warm, minimum of 13°C (55°F)

Family: Bignoniaceae

Tecomaria capensis from South Africa is the species most often encountered and will grow happily in a cool greenhouse. When I have tried planting these out in greenhouse borders I have had little success with flowering. Grown in pots they can be given better light and the watering and feeding can be better monitored. Cultivation is very similar to Tecoma but these are more delicate of form. It is a good idea to tie them in to a support of canes. Effort will be rewarded with bright funnel-shaped reddish-orange flowers.
