Sanchezia: Greenhouse Plants

T – tropical, minimum of 18°C (65°F)

Family: Acanthaceae

Tropical America

Sanchezia nobilis ‘Glaucophylla’ is the form mostly seen in cultivation and it really does require tropical conditions to grow well. It is grown primarily as a foliage plant for it has long bright green leaves attractively striped with yellow. Large specimens from about 90 cm (3 ft) tall will produce clusters of bright yellow tubular flowers during summer. These plants propagate readily from cuttings and quickly make an attractive plant. They are very thirsty when they grow tall.
