Pyrostegia: Greenhouse Plants

W – warm, minimum of 13°C (55°F)

Family: Bignoniaceae

Pyrostegia venusta is the aptly named Flaming Trumpets; an attractive vigorous climber which clings by tendrils and is grown for its profusion of flame-coloured flowers borne during winter. After flowering the stems that have flowered are best cut back to within a bud of older wood to restrict the spread of the plant, which can be considerable whether pot grown or planted out. Cuttings can be taken of these shoots, each one consisting of two nodes and the stem between; terminal shoots are not necessary.
