Pellionia: Greenhouse Plants

T – tropical, minimum of 18°C (65°F)

Family: Urticaceae

Pellionia daveauana from Burma, Vietnam and Malaysia is a trailing foliage plant that needs tropical conditions to do well. I like to plant six or seven rooted cuttings into a large pan of peat-based compost and use this as an edging plant for displays of taller plants. Cuttings are extremely easy to root at virtually any time of the year. Alternatively, their attractive dark and apple green leaves will look lovely tumbling over the sides of a hanging basket.
