Leea : Greenhouse Plants

T – tropical, minimum of 18°C (65°F)

Family: Vitaceae

I do not think that Leea coccinea from Burma is a wildly exciting plant but it has appeared as a ‘regular’ in garden centres in recent years. It is grown basically for its rather handsome foliage but does little better than struggle unless given a tropical temperature. When about 30 cm (1 ft) tall a head of small dark red flowers will be produced but they are hardly showy. Propagation is by seed sown in spring.
