How to Grow Courgettes
These are really very tender babywhich have long been popular in France.
Cooked whole and eaten with melted butter, they form a very palatable dish. There are several types now available, all being easy to grow. They include Zucchini of which the fruits are a deep emerald-green colour of attractive appearance and of excellent table quality. This variety and Cocozelle are generally reckoned to have originated from Italy.
It is possible to use bush and green trailing marrows as courgettes if the fruit is gathered when it is very small. It is however, much better to buy the special strains of courgettes rather than cut the very young fruit from the standard bush variety.
The cultural details and times of sowing and planting of courgettes, are the same as those for the ordinary vegetable marrows, using Dutch light frames.
