Griselinia: Greenhouse Plants

C – cool, minimum of 7°C (45°F)

Family: Comaceae

Griselinia littoralis from New Zealand is too tender to grow outside in most parts of Britain. It does, however, make a useful and attractive evergreen shrub for the greenhouse. It will add height to displays or even make a good specimen in its own right. G. l. ‘Variegata’ is more striking than the plain green species. It will not grow much more than 1.2 m (4 ft) tall when restricted to a pot. Ten-cm (4-in) long cuttings of half ripe shoots root well during summer.
